Premier and Minister of Finance David Burt is travelling to the United States capital this week to lead a Bermuda delegation at DC Fintech Week, an annual gathering of policymakers, regulators and digital finance executives held across venues in Washington, DC from October 13 to 16, 2026.

A Government spokesperson confirmed the trip, noting that the delegation's agenda centres on digital asset regulation and the continued growth of Bermuda's fintech sector. The island has spent several years positioning itself as a jurisdiction of choice for digital asset businesses, anchored by the Digital Asset Business Act and a licensing regime overseen by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

Officials say participation in the Washington event allows Bermuda to engage directly with US lawmakers and regulators at a time when American policy on cryptocurrencies and digital finance continues to evolve. Maintaining visibility in the US market is considered important given that many of the companies licensed on the island have significant North American operations and investor bases.

The Premier has made fintech development a signature element of his administration's economic diversification strategy, arguing that the sector can create jobs and broaden Bermuda's revenue base beyond traditional pillars such as international business and tourism. Further details of the delegation's meetings and any announcements arising from the visit are expected to be released in due course.
