Jasmine Spence, the Hamilton-born striker who began her football journey on Bermuda’s beaches, is carrying her nation’s hopes forward in the World Minifootball Federation Women’s World Cup held in Croatia. The 27‑year‑old, who now represents English non‑league club Newport Pagnell Town, has secured a place in England’s 17‑member squad for the six‑a‑side tournament in Mali Losinj.

Spence’s rapid rise from Bermuda’s local leagues to the international minifootball stage highlights the growing pathways for Bermudian athletes. After completing her studies in the UK, she joined Newport Pagnell Town and quickly became a key forward, drawing attention from the national minifootball selectors.

The tournament’s format—six players per side, including a goalkeeper—offers a fast‑paced, high‑scoring spectacle. England’s group fixtures include matches against Croatia, Austria and the Republic of Ireland, and Spence is expected to feature prominently as the team seeks to secure a place in the knockout rounds.

BermudaObserver has been following Spence’s progress since her debut in the island’s national team, and many locals are proud to see a fellow Bermudian represented on the world stage. Her performance in Croatia not only showcases her skill but also serves as an inspiration for young Bermudian women aspiring to pursue football careers abroad.

The World Minifootball Federation Women’s World Cup is scheduled to run through the week of 8–15 August, offering an opportunity for Spence and her teammates to test their mettle against some of the best players in the sport.

"We’re thrilled to see Jasmine representing our homeland and bringing her talent to a global platform," said a spokesperson for Bermuda Football Association. "Her journey underscores the potential that lies within our local talent pool."
