Two Bermudian sailors have helped Eckerd College secure a share of first place at the Charleston Fall Interconference regatta, with Jordan Vieira and PJ Rodrigues contributing to a strong showing for the Florida-based programme in South Carolina waters.

The two-day competition, staged on October 3 and 4, ended in dramatic fashion as Eckerd and the College of Charleston finished locked together on 76 points apiece. The host school ultimately claimed the overall title after prevailing on the head-to-head tiebreaker, leaving Eckerd to settle for a share of top spot in the standings.

Rodrigues delivered a standout performance across the weekend, underlining his growing reputation within the collegiate sailing circuit. Vieira also played a key role in the Tritons' campaign as the pair continued to fly the island's flag on the US college sailing scene.

The result marks another encouraging chapter for Bermudian sailors competing abroad, with the island long regarded as a breeding ground for talented helms and crews. Both Vieira and Rodrigues are expected to feature prominently for Eckerd as the collegiate season progresses, with further interconference events on the horizon for the St. Petersburg programme.
