At the Max Munich Bowling Centre in Brunnthal, just outside Munich, Bermuda’s men’s bowling squad competed in the International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Cup and finished seventh in Group B of the team event. Over the course of the group stage the Blackbirds recorded six victories and suffered five defeats, earning 18 points and missing the final‑round cut.

The squad, which includes seasoned bowlers such as Christopher Smith, Devon Hughes and emerging talent Stuart Parker, showcased the depth of talent that Bermuda has been cultivating in recent years. Their most memorable win came against the Netherlands, a match that highlighted the team’s strategic precision and composure under pressure.

While the finish falls short of the top‑six spot needed to advance, the experience gained on the world stage is viewed positively by the Bermuda Bowling Association. “Competing against the best in the world gives our players invaluable insight into the level of play required for future tournaments,” said association president Maria Reyes. The 18‑point haul also provides a benchmark for training programs back home, where the association is investing in coaching clinics and youth outreach.

Looking ahead, the team will return to local competitions in early 2027 and prepare for the upcoming Pan‑American Games. The IBF World Cup participation underscores Bermuda’s growing presence in international bowls and sets the stage for further development of the sport on the island.
