A small aircraft carrying six passengers and crew was reported missing after it lost contact while en route from Bermuda to Boston early yesterday. The flight, operated by a private carrier, was last heard from off the coast of the island. Bermuda’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the loss of radio communication at approximately 09:45 local time.

The U.S. Coast Guard has launched a search and rescue operation that now includes the Bermudian Coast Guard and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club’s volunteer search teams. A joint task force is conducting aerial sweeps with the Royal Navy’s HMS Sovereign and satellite imaging to locate the aircraft or any debris. Bermuda’s Ministry of Home Affairs has requested that citizens remain calm while authorities coordinate with U.S. officials.

"We are working closely with the U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Navy to locate the aircraft and provide assistance to any survivors," said Dr. Jane Smith, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs. "Bermuda’s emergency services are fully prepared to support the international effort.

The Bermuda Aviation Authority has opened an investigation into the incident and is reviewing the flight’s last known position and flight plan. The Agency will cooperate with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and International Civil Aviation Organization as the search continues. Updates will be provided through the Ministry’s official website and local media outlets as more information becomes available.
