Hamilton, Bermuda – The island’s capital hosted a weekend‑long food festival from Friday evening through Sunday, inviting residents and visitors to sample a variety of local and international dishes. The event, organized by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and the Bermuda Culinary Association, featured more than 30 participating restaurants, cafés and food trucks across the downtown area.
Each venue offered a special menu highlighting Bermuda’s signature ingredients, such as fresh lobster, local citrus, and tropical fruits. Notable highlights included a three‑course tasting at The Coconuts, a seafood platter at Stormy Point, and a vegan pop‑up at the Green House Garden. Chefs from both the island and overseas gave live cooking demonstrations, adding an interactive element to the weekend.
The festival attracted an estimated 12,000 visitors, according to the chamber’s attendance survey, a significant increase over previous years. Local businesses reported higher sales, and several vendors said the event helped boost awareness of Bermuda’s culinary scene among overseas tourists. The influx of visitors also benefited the hospitality sector, with several hotels reporting a 15 % rise in bookings during the weekend.
Organizers noted that the success of the event could pave the way for a permanent annual festival, potentially expanding to other towns. "Our goal has always been to showcase the talent and resources of Bermudian chefs," said Maria Wilkinson, chair of the Bermuda Culinary Association. "The positive response shows that there is a strong appetite for local cuisine, both at home and abroad."
