Izzy Bennett, a celebrated mixologist from Hamilton, has taken home the title of World Champion at this year’s Art of Pour Cocktail Competition held in New York City. The 25‑year‑old, who operates the popular Bermuda kitchen‑bar, was awarded the coveted trophy for her inventive “Bermudian Breeze,” a clear gin‑based libation that incorporates locally sourced citrus and a hint of seaweed bitters.

The competition, which drew 80 entrants from 18 different countries, judged participants on creativity, flavour balance, presentation and the use of unique ingredients. Bennett’s entry impressed the panel with its vibrant colour, crisp aroma and subtle tropical notes, earning her a perfect score in the flavour category.

Bermuda’s burgeoning craft cocktail scene has been gaining international attention in recent years, thanks to a growing number of talented bartenders and an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Bennett’s victory is seen as a proud moment for the island, and her success may help attract more tourism and investment to Bermuda’s hospitality sector.

Bennett will now represent Bermuda at the upcoming World Cocktail Summit in Miami, where she will showcase her signature drink to a global audience of industry leaders and enthusiasts.
