Hamilton, Bermuda – The 2026 Bermuda Classic is set to kick off next week at the historic Royal Bermuda Golf Club, and local spectators are already turning their attention to two players who, while not front‑of‑the‑field favorites, could bring an exciting twist to the competition.

First on the radar is former U.S. Open semifinalist Michael Reynolds, a British‑born professional who has spent recent seasons playing on the PGA Tour. Despite a series of early‑season injuries that limited his play, Reynolds’ powerful drives and precise iron play have earned him a spot on the 54‑hole leaderboard in several recent tournaments. Coaches say his familiarity with links‑style courses like the one at Royal Bermuda gives him a strategic edge.

The second player to watch is rising Colombian star Alejandro Vargas, who recently finished runner‑up at the Latin American Open. Vargas is known for his aggressive ball‑striking and a high‑energy on‑course presence that has drawn attention from sponsors and fans alike. Though his world ranking sits outside the top 200, the player’s recent form and adaptability to windy, coastal conditions seen in Bermuda’s layout could make him a dark horse.

The tournament, which attracts a field of 120 golfers from around the globe, will run from Thursday to Sunday. While the top seeds – including the reigning champion – are expected to dominate, many analysts suggest that a solid performance from Reynolds or Vargas could upset the conventional hierarchy.

For Bermudian enthusiasts, the event offers a chance to witness a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talent, all set against the island’s iconic turquoise backdrop and rolling dunes. The Royal Bermuda Golf Club, opened in 1906, is renowned for its challenging layout and has hosted several major championships.

As the tournament approaches, local media outlets and fans alike will be keen to see whether these two longshot contenders can capitalize on the unique Bermudian conditions and deliver memorable plays.

"We’re hoping to see some up‑and‑coming talent that can challenge the established names," said a club spokesperson. "It’s always exciting when a less‑expected player makes an impact on the leaderboard.",

The Bermuda Classic promises to be a showcase of skill and surprise, with a field that offers both familiarity and fresh competition.
