Bermuda's newly appointed head of tourism took the stage at the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) this week, using the regional gathering to showcase the island's strategy for growing visitor arrivals and strengthening its position in an increasingly competitive travel market.

Speaking before an audience of Caribbean tourism leaders, hoteliers and travel trade professionals, the Bermuda Tourism Authority's chief executive highlighted a range of initiatives aimed at attracting visitors year-round. The presentation touched on the island's expanding calendar of sporting and cultural events, efforts to boost airlift from key North American and European gateways, and campaigns designed to draw travellers beyond the traditional summer season.

The CEO also pointed to Bermuda's distinct identity within the wider region, noting that while the island sits outside the Caribbean geographically, its participation in forums like SOTIC reflects shared interests in sustainable tourism development, workforce training and resilience in the face of climate-related challenges. Delegates were told that collaboration with regional partners remains a priority as destinations compete for a growing pool of post-pandemic travellers.

Tourism officials in Hamilton said the conference provided a valuable platform to promote Bermuda directly to influential industry decision-makers. The island's tourism sector continues to rebuild momentum, with visitor spending and cruise arrivals showing steady gains. The BTA has signalled that further announcements on marketing partnerships and event programming are expected in the coming months as Bermuda positions itself for a strong winter season.
