Hamilton, Bermuda – The city’s public library will transform into a haunted haven on Thursday, as it kicks off its yearly Halloween Haunt event. The library’s main reading room will be decked out with cobwebs, flickering candles, and eerie sound effects, offering visitors a spine‑tingling experience before the books are back on the shelves.
"We love bringing the community together for a fun, family‑friendly fright night," said Library Director Carla Thompson. The Haunt will feature interactive stations where children can solve riddles, a small stage for local performers to share ghost stories, and a photo‑op corner with a backdrop of Bermudian sea‑tide folklore.
Attendees must purchase a ticket for $5, which includes a complimentary library bookmark and access to a midnight midnight reading of "The Bermuda at Midnight," a short story collection by resident author C. J. Morgan. The event is open to all ages, with a special section for seniors and a quiet corner for those who prefer a gentler scare.
The library’s initiative follows a growing trend of cultural venues hosting themed events to boost foot traffic and community engagement. By turning the familiar space of books into a night of thrills, the Hamilton Public Library hopes to spark curiosity about local history and literature while celebrating the spirit of Halloween in Bermuda’s unique maritime setting.
