A Bermudian bartender has taken home the top prize at the 2026 Bermuda International Cocktail Competition held in Hamilton this week. John Mason, the owner of the waterfront bar “Siren’s Cove”, was awarded the “Best Cocktail” title for his creation, the “Bermuda Breeze”, a refreshing mix of local spiced rum, fresh lime, grapefruit bitters and a splash of sea‑salted syrup.
The competition, which attracted 18 teams from across the Caribbean and North America, was judged by a panel that included renowned mixologists from New York, Miami and London. Mason’s recipe, which incorporates honey sourced from the island’s own beekeepers and a hint of Bermuda’s signature lemon‑butter, received praise for its balance of tropical flavors and the clever use of local ingredients.
“We’re proud to see our island’s spirit represented on an international stage,” said Mason. “The Bermuda Breeze showcases what we can offer to visitors and locals alike.” The win is expected to draw cocktail enthusiasts to the island and may inspire other local venues to experiment with Bermudian produce in their own drinks.
The event concluded with a celebration on the Hamilton waterfront, highlighting the island’s growing reputation as a culinary destination. Local tourism officials hope the success will boost visitor interest in the island’s vibrant food and drink scene.
