The Bermuda Premier Rugby Football Club (BPRFC) has announced the appointment of two seasoned players as team captains for the upcoming season. J. Smit, a seasoned fly‑half known for his tactical acumen, and A. Craig, a forward celebrated for his physicality and leadership on the field, will jointly steer the club.
The decision follows a period of reflection after last year’s campaign, during which BPRFC sought to strengthen its on‑field cohesion and tactical execution. Both Smit and Craig have extensive experience with the national side and have been instrumental in mentoring younger teammates throughout the club’s history.
"We’re excited to have Smit and Craig take on the captaincy," said club chairman Mark Leung. "Their combined experience and ability to inspire the squad will be key as we aim for a top‑four finish this season."
BPRFC, a staple of Bermuda’s rugby scene since 1986, will compete in the Premier League’s upcoming fixtures against traditional rivals such as the Bermuda Sharks and the Royal Naval Club. The club’s leadership structure will see Smit spearheading strategy from the backline while Craig will focus on forward play and defensive organization.
Both captains emphasized the importance of teamwork and community engagement, noting that rugby’s values extend beyond the pitch. As the season approaches, BPRFC supporters are eager to see the new leadership dynamic translate into on‑field success.
