Bermuda National Trust (BNT) has formally welcomed The Loren’s Heritage Approach, a community‑driven program aimed at safeguarding the island’s architectural and cultural legacy.
The Loren’s initiative focuses on restoring historic structures, promoting traditional Bermudian crafts, and integrating local stories into educational curricula. The program plans to partner with churches, schools, and civic groups to document oral histories and preserve artifacts that illustrate Bermuda’s unique blend of Caribbean and British influences.
"By supporting The Loren’s Heritage Approach, we are investing in the intangible assets that define Bermuda’s identity and attract visitors seeking authentic experiences," said Dr. Jane Smith, BNT Executive Director. She added that the partnership will provide technical guidance and grant‑making support to ensure projects meet conservation standards while engaging the next generation of heritage stewards.
The initiative will launch next month with a pilot restoration of the 19th‑century St. George’s Clock Tower, followed by a series of workshops on traditional Bermudian quilting and maritime navigation. BNT expects the project to boost local tourism by offering new heritage tours and cultural events, creating jobs and encouraging sustainable development across the island.
BNT will monitor progress quarterly and aims to expand the program island‑wide by 2028, underscoring Bermuda’s commitment to preserving its past while fostering economic resilience.
