The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a country‑wide search for promising young cricketers, as the island gears up to host the ICC Americas U19 Division 1 World Cup Qualifiers in August 2027.
Under a new High‑Performance Programme, the BCB aims to identify, nurture and refine the next generation of Bermuda’s elite cricket talent. Officials said the initiative will provide targeted coaching, fitness training and match‑play opportunities for selected players.
The move comes as Bermuda prepares to welcome a wave of international teams to its pitches. The qualifiers will pit the island against other Americas nations, offering local players a chance to showcase their skills on a global stage.
BCB’s spokesperson highlighted the programme’s role in building a sustainable pipeline for future national squads. "We are committed to investing in our youth," she added, "so that the next wave of Bermudian cricketers can compete at the highest level and bring success back to our home grounds."
The search will open to players aged 12 to 18 across the island, with trials to be held in Hamilton, Paget and Sandys. Those who pass the initial screenings will join a structured training schedule that includes technical drills, analysis sessions and competitive matches.
The BCB urges parents and coaches to encourage participation and to support the next cohort of Bermudian cricketers as the island steps onto the world stage in 2027.
