In a display of skill and teamwork, Bermudian sailor Christian Ebbin and his Tulane University teammates secured fifth place overall in the opening day of the Danmark Trophy, held in New London, Connecticut. Sailing in the B‑Division, Ebbin and crew member Sabrina Anderson finished 12th with 44 points after four races, achieving a range of results – fourth in the first race, 18th in the second, ninth in the third and 13th in the fourth.
The Danmark Trophy draws crews from across the United States and Canada, providing a competitive arena for emerging and seasoned sailors alike. Ebbin’s performance was a solid contribution to the team’s overall standing, which also featured the Tulane A‑Division crew placing 17th in the same category.
The event, which is part of the 2024 U.S. Sailing National Championships circuit, offers sailors a chance to gain valuable experience in a diverse fleet and under varying wind conditions. For Bermudian sailors, participation in such regattas is an important preparation step ahead of the upcoming World Championships.
Ebbin, who has previously represented Bermuda in international competitions, highlighted the importance of teamwork and adaptability in the press conference following the races. The crew’s performance reflects the growing strength of Bermudian sailing on the international stage.
