In a bid to showcase the island’s rich cultural tapestry, several historic churches in Hamilton announced the launch of the "Bermuda Churches Heritage Trail" this week. The initiative, coordinated by the Bermuda Tourism Board and the Island Heritage Trust, will guide visitors through eight churches that span more than 200 years of architectural and spiritual history.

Participants will begin at St. Peter’s Church on Main Street, where a guided tour will highlight the Georgian stonework and the church’s role during the 19th‑century sugar boom. From there, the trail will proceed to St. Philip’s, St. John’s Cathedral, and other notable sites, each offering a brief exposition on its unique contribution to Bermuda’s religious and social life. The tour will be free and open to the public, with additional resources available in both English and Bermudian dialect.

Tourism officials say the trail aims to boost cultural tourism while fostering appreciation for the island’s heritage. "These churches are not just places of worship; they are living museums that tell the story of Bermuda’s evolution," said Tourism Director Deon Smith. The Bermuda Churches Heritage Trail will run from May 1 through June 30 and is expected to attract both local residents and international visitors seeking an authentic exploration of Bermuda’s past.
