Bermuda’s own Zelaye Showers has taken a step forward in her football career by signing with Harborough Town Women, a club competing in England’s FA Women’s National League South. The 23‑year‑old midfielder, who has represented Bermuda at both U‑20 and senior levels, will now join the squad that plays its home matches at the historic Stoneygate Stadium.
Showers’ move comes after a successful spell with her former club in Bermuda’s Premier Division, where she was noted for her vision, passing accuracy and work rate. She has earned 12 caps for the Bermuda women’s national team, scoring twice in competitive fixtures. Her transfer marks the first time a Bermudian player has joined a club in the English women's league structure, a milestone that could inspire other local talents to pursue opportunities overseas.
Harborough Town Women’s manager, James McLeod, welcomed the new signing, stating that Showers’ experience on the international stage would add depth to the squad’s midfield. He emphasized the club’s commitment to developing players from diverse backgrounds.
For Bermuda, Showers’ success is seen as a positive sign for the growth of women’s football on the island. The Bermuda Football Association has been working to strengthen pathways for female athletes, and the move is expected to bring new skills and exposure back to the domestic game.
The player’s arrival is scheduled to take effect in the upcoming season, with her debut anticipated in the early rounds of the league fixtures.
