Denis Grant, a long‑time Hamilton resident and former director of the Bank of Bermuda, died peacefully at St. George’s Hospital on 12 September 2026, aged 78. Born in Hamilton in 1948, Mr Grant spent his career fostering local enterprise and championing sustainable growth in Bermuda’s financial sector.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Grant was a devoted public servant. He served six years on the Hamilton City Council, where he helped spearhead the revitalisation of the West End and championed initiatives that expanded community access to public spaces. His volunteer work with the Bermuda Red Cross and the local sailing club earned him recognition for his commitment to civic life.

Grant studied economics at the University of the West Indies before joining the Bank of Bermuda in 1975. He rose through the ranks to become a senior director and later served on the board of directors, guiding the bank through a period of significant regional expansion. In 2015 he was awarded an MBE for services to commerce and community development.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters Lila and Natalie; and five grandchildren. Friends and colleagues will remember him as a visionary leader who combined business acumen with a genuine love for Bermuda’s people and heritage.
