The Bermuda Police Service brought its anniversary celebrations to the Hamilton Princess on October 10, hosting a formal gala dinner as the centrepiece of Police Week 2026. Officers, invited guests and community supporters gathered for an evening marking 147 years of policing on the island, with organisers encouraging black-tie dress and decorative masks to match the occasion’s festive tone.
The dinner carried the theme “Together in Service, United in Community,” a message that reflected the Service’s effort to frame the milestone around public partnership rather than ceremony alone. Set in one of Hamilton’s best-known waterfront hotels, the event gave attendees a chance to recognise long-serving officers, welcome newer members and acknowledge the role residents play in neighbourhood safety across Bermuda.
The gala formed part of a wider Police Week programme, with earlier activities aimed at opening the Service to the public and highlighting everyday work beyond enforcement. For many in attendance, the evening offered a more relaxed setting than the usual interactions between police and the community, while still underscoring the responsibilities that come with an institution approaching its 150th year.
As Police Week continues, the Service is expected to keep attention on outreach, recruitment and visibility across the island. The anniversary dinner served both as a look back at the organisation’s history and as a reminder that public confidence remains central to modern policing in Bermuda.
