Bermuda's Anglican clergy and their spouses took part in a landmark retreat this week, led jointly by Archbishop Philip Wright and his wife, Mrs. Carla Suite Wright. The gathering followed the recent rededication of St. Mary's Church in Warwick, a parish with deep roots in the island's religious history.

The event marked two notable firsts: it was the inaugural clergy retreat Archbishop Wright has led anywhere since assuming his role as Archbishop, and the first occasion on which he and Mrs. Wright have co-led such a gathering together. Clergy from parishes across the island attended alongside their partners, taking time away from their regular duties for reflection, fellowship and spiritual renewal.

A spokesperson described the retreat as a significant moment for the Anglican community in Bermuda, offering clergy an opportunity to reconnect with one another and with their shared mission. The choice of Warwick's St. Mary's as the setting added further meaning, coming on the heels of the historic church's rededication ceremony, which drew worshippers and dignitaries from across the island.

The Anglican Church has long played a central role in Bermuda's civic and spiritual life, with parishes serving communities from St. George's to Somerset. Church officials indicated that the retreat is expected to strengthen bonds among the island's ministry teams as they continue their work in congregations throughout Bermuda.
