The Bermuda Hotel Association has named Greg Ramey as its new Chief Executive Officer, with the appointment taking effect on October 1. He will succeed Stephen Todd, who is stepping down after 12 years leading the organisation that represents the island's hotel sector.

In a statement, the association's Board of Directors said they were pleased to announce Mr Ramey's appointment, marking a significant leadership transition for one of Bermuda's key tourism industry bodies. The BHA plays a central role in advocating for hotels and guest properties, working closely with government and the Bermuda Tourism Authority on issues ranging from airlift and visitor arrivals to workforce development.

The change in leadership comes at an important juncture for Bermuda's hospitality industry, as hotels continue efforts to build occupancy beyond the traditional summer season and compete for group business and events. The incoming CEO will be tasked with representing members' interests on matters including labour, immigration policy for hospitality workers, and investment in new hotel product.

Mr Todd's dozen years at the helm spanned a period of considerable change for the island's tourism landscape, including the opening of new properties and the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which severely disrupted travel worldwide. The association is expected to share further details about Mr Ramey's background and vision for the organisation in the coming weeks.
