The Bermuda Police Service has launched its annual Police Week celebrations, commemorating 147 years of service to the island community.

The week-long observance honours the contributions of serving officers, civilian staff, their families and the community partners who support policing efforts across Bermuda.

Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons said the anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the work carried out by the service throughout the year. He noted that Police Week allows the organisation to pause and take stock of its efforts while recognising the dedication of those who serve.

Police Week events traditionally bring together members of the service and the public, highlighting the relationship between law enforcement and the wider community. The celebrations also provide a moment to acknowledge the sacrifices made by officers and the support provided by their loved ones.

The Bermuda Police Service, established in the 19th century, remains one of the island's oldest institutions. Residents are encouraged to engage with the service during the week's activities as it looks ahead to another year of serving Bermuda.
