Port Royal, Bermuda—The Butterfield Bermuda Championship will open its doors to a field of world‑class amateurs and professionals from October 22 to 25, drawing attention to Bermuda’s premier links‑style golf course. The event, a staple of the island’s sporting calendar, will see five renowned players compete for the coveted trophy.
Among the confirmed entrants is Neal Shipley, who finished as the low amateur at both the 2024 Masters and the U.S. Open, underscoring his rising profile on the global stage. South African professional Aldrich Potgieter, known for his steady play on the Sunshine Tour, will bring a different brand of experience, while Blades Brown, Johnny Keefer and Luke Clanton—each with significant amateur and professional accolades—will add depth to the competition.
The Port Royal Golf Course, situated on the northern coast of Bermuda, has hosted the championship for decades, offering a challenging yet scenic layout that tests precision and strategy. Organisers anticipate that the mix of local and international talent will boost visitor interest and highlight Bermuda’s reputation as a destination for high‑level sporting events.
The championship is sponsored by Butterfield, a long‑time partner of Bermuda’s sporting community, and will include a series of community engagement activities to celebrate the island’s rich golf heritage. Local officials hope the tournament will showcase Bermuda’s hospitality and attract future sporting investment.
The event will conclude on Thursday, 25 October, with the winner receiving the Butterfield trophy and the honour of representing Bermuda on the world stage.
