A woman was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 70 near the town of Bermuda, Missouri, on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of I‑70 and County Road 48, a stretch that sees routine traffic between Columbia and Kansas City.

Local police were dispatched promptly and arrived within minutes. Officer Lisa Thompson, who responded to the call, said the driver was hospitalized at Mercy Hospital in Columbia. The victim, a 32‑year‑old resident of the surrounding area, sustained serious injuries but was treated at the scene before being transported.

Bermuda Mayor James Carter expressed concern for the community’s safety. "This is a reminder of how quickly accidents can happen even in our quiet towns," he told the local radio station. He urged residents to remain vigilant on the highway and to report any hazardous conditions.

Bermuda’s small population of just over 1,300 means that news of the crash reverberated quickly through the town. Local businesses, including the main grocery store and the community center, have offered to provide support to the victim’s family.

Transportation officials from the Missouri Department of Transportation are reviewing traffic patterns in the area and will consider additional safety measures if warranted. For now, the I‑70 corridor remains open, but drivers are advised to exercise caution near the reported site.
