During a recent briefing in Hamilton, Bermuda’s Minister of Economic Development, Steven Warner, underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between the public sector, local businesses and educational institutions in creating sustainable jobs for Bermudians. "We can’t achieve long‑term employment growth in isolation," Warner said. He highlighted a growing focus on sectors such as tourism, maritime services, and emerging technology, noting that joint initiatives can help align workforce skills with market needs.

Warner outlined a suite of partnership programmes that the government is currently fostering. These include apprenticeship schemes with leading hotels and cruise operators, joint research projects with the University of the West Indies – Bermuda Campus, and a technology incubator partnership with a regional fintech provider. The minister emphasized that such collaborations not only deliver training opportunities but also encourage local firms to retain talent and expand operations.

Looking ahead, Warner announced the formation of a cross‑sector taskforce tasked with mapping future skill gaps and identifying funding mechanisms for partnership projects. "By working together, we can ensure that Bermuda’s workforce remains competitive and resilient," he concluded.
