The Bermuda Tourism Authority has taken its message to one of the world's most exclusive maritime gatherings, hosting an Owners' Club event in Monaco aimed at positioning the island as a premier destination for superyacht owners and the wider luxury marine sector.
The gathering, staged in conjunction with BOAT International, brought together yacht owners, industry figures and hospitality representatives for an evening showcasing Bermuda's cruising grounds, marina facilities and regulatory environment. Monaco, long regarded as the capital of the global superyacht scene, offered the BTA a direct line to the high-net-worth travellers the island is increasingly courting.
Bermuda has been working in recent years to expand its appeal beyond traditional leisure tourism, with the marine and superyacht segments identified as areas of growth. The island's position in the mid-Atlantic, combined with its sheltered anchorages and proximity to both North America and transatlantic routes, makes it a natural stop for vessels crossing the ocean or cruising the western Atlantic. Officials have also pointed to legislative and customs improvements designed to make visiting the island simpler for large private vessels.
Representatives at the Monaco event highlighted Bermuda's calendar of marine events, its sailing heritage and the island's capacity to host large yachts, while building relationships with owners and charter brokers who influence itineraries. The BTA has previously used international boat shows and regattas to raise the island's profile in the sector.
The Authority said engagement with the superyacht community forms part of a broader strategy to attract higher-spending visitors and extend Bermuda's reach into new markets.
