In a showcase of precision and skill, three Bermudian archers shattered existing national marks during the National Archery Association of Bermuda’s Outdoor Nationals, held yesterday at Gold Point Archery in St. George’s. The event, which combined the Nationals with the Bermuda Archery Tournament, drew competitors from across the island to compete in recurve, compound and barebow divisions.
Braeden Fraser, a local junior athlete, recorded a new record in the compound 70‑meter round, hitting a perfect score that surpassed the previous benchmark set a year ago. Meanwhile, veteran archer Naseeha Johnson lifted a fresh national record in the women's barebow 50‑meter category, a feat that underscores her steady progress in the sport. The third record was achieved by senior male archer James Thompson, who set a new standard in the recurve 90‑meter event.
The National Archery Association praised participants for their disciplined practice routines, noting that the recent surge in local coaching resources and improved training facilities have contributed to the athletes’ successes. Officials highlighted the importance of such achievements for inspiring younger archers and for positioning Bermuda more prominently in the international archery community.
The tournament’s location at Gold Point Archery, a well‑known local venue, provided a scenic backdrop that reflected the island’s blend of natural beauty and sporting ambition. With these new records in place, the Association plans to continue nurturing talent through expanded youth programs and community outreach initiatives.
