Former Bermuda captain David Hemp has been named head coach of Bangladesh’s women’s national cricket team, signing a two‑year deal that runs through September 2028. At 55, Hemp will join the squad in Brisbane as they prepare for a One‑Day International series against Australia.
Hemp’s appointment follows his successful stint with Bermuda, where he earned 64 caps and captained the side in international tournaments such as the ICC World Cricket League. The move comes after Bangladesh’s previous coach, Sarwar Imran, stepped down in February 2025.
"It’s a proud moment for Bermuda cricket to see one of our own taking on a leadership role with a major cricketing nation," said Bermuda Cricket Board chair Ken Drummond. "David’s experience on the island and his passion for the game will be invaluable to the Bangladesh women’s program.
Hemp’s new role underscores the growing interconnectedness of the cricket world and highlights how Bermuda’s cricketing expertise is being recognised on the global stage.
