Premier David Burt, alongside the Minister of Finance, led a delegation of Bermuda’s fintech community to Washington, DC, for the FinTech Week conference that ran from October 13‑16. The visit was aimed at engaging U.S. regulators and industry leaders to discuss the regulatory framework for digital assets and to explore opportunities for cross‑border collaboration.

During the week, the delegation met with representatives from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and other key bodies to clarify the scope of Bermuda’s existing digital asset regulations. The Premier also participated in round‑table sessions focused on best practices for compliance, market integrity and consumer protection.

Bermuda’s fintech sector has grown rapidly in recent years, with the jurisdiction attracting a number of digital‑asset exchanges, custodians and token‑issuance platforms. The Premier’s trip underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining Bermuda as a forward‑thinking, regulatory‑friendly hub for innovative financial services.

The delegation’s discussions are expected to help shape future policy adjustments, promote investment inflows and strengthen ties with U.S. counterparts. As Bermuda continues to position itself at the intersection of technology and finance, the outcomes of FinTech Week will inform the next steps in the government’s digital‑asset strategy.
