The Bermuda Trade Union Congress (BTUC) has announced a series of three town‑hall meetings scheduled for 20‑22 October, aimed at addressing the escalating cost of living in Bermuda. The sessions, titled “A Conversation on Tangible Cost‑of‑Living Relief,” will be held in the east, west and central regions of the island and are open to all residents at no charge.

During the meetings, BTUC officials will outline a proposed health‑insurance rebate programme that could reduce monthly premiums for workers across the territory. The union – which represents a broad spectrum of Bermudian employees – says the initiative is designed to provide immediate financial relief for families struggling with rising healthcare costs.

"We want to bring the conversation to the communities most affected," said BTUC spokesperson Joan C. Mason. "Our goal is to collaborate with employers and the government to ensure the rebate can be implemented swiftly and fairly across all sectors.")

The town halls will also offer a forum for citizens to voice concerns and suggestions. Attendance is encouraged, with BTUC urging those who have been impacted by recent price hikes to participate and help shape the programme’s details.
