The Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) is calling on residents to donate blood, with a particular focus on O positive and A positive types. The Blood Donor Centre explained that these blood groups are in short supply and crucial for treating patients across the island.

Donations can be scheduled by calling 236‑5067. The BHB staff will confirm the donor’s blood type and guide them through the process. Those who are unsure of their own type can still register and will be tested before the donation.

BHB has highlighted the importance of a regular blood supply for the four major hospitals in Bermuda, especially as the island continues to support patients with complex medical needs. The centre noted that a steady flow of donors helps reduce waiting lists for surgeries and emergency care.

Residents are urged to consider donating, especially if they have a compatible blood type. The BHB thanks the community for its ongoing support and stresses that each donation can save up to three lives.
