The Bermuda football community will see a change in its most prominent competition next season, as the long‑running Corona League officially adopts the name Carlsberg League following a new sponsorship agreement. The swap, announced by the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) during a press conference in Hamilton, will take effect at the start of the 2026‑27 campaign.
Carlsberg’s deal, projected to run for five years, is intended to inject fresh funding into league operations, enhance player development programmes and increase community outreach initiatives across the islands. The new partnership will also see the introduction of a Carlsberg Cup for youth teams, aimed at encouraging wider participation at the club level.
Local club managers welcomed the change, citing the potential for improved facilities and greater visibility. "We’re excited about the resources Carlsberg is bringing," said St. George’s Colts manager Mark Thompson. "It means better training gear for our players and the chance to host more matches in upgraded venues.")
While the rebranding will alter the league’s name, the BFA confirmed that the competition’s structure, season schedule and existing regulations will remain unchanged. Fans can expect to see familiar rivals—such as Devonshire Cougars, Bermuda Hogges and Hamilton Parish United—competing under the new banner, with the first match under the Carlsberg League slated for early September.
