A local networking event for caregivers of children and adults with special needs is set to take place on Thursday, 12 August, at the Bermuda Community Centre in Hamilton. The gathering, organised by the Caregivers’ Community Network (CCN) in partnership with the Ministry of Human Services and the Bermuda National Service Corps, aims to create a collaborative space where families can share resources, exchange advice, and build a stronger support network.
The two‑hour program will feature a panel of local health professionals, including a speech‑language pathologist and a child‑development specialist, who will discuss the latest therapeutic approaches and available community services. A vendor pavilion will showcase assistive‑technology products from Bermudian makers and international suppliers, while a breakout workshop on self‑care for caregivers will provide practical strategies to manage stress.
"This event is designed to empower our caregivers with knowledge and connection," said CCN Executive Director Maria Gittens. "By bringing together families, professionals and local businesses, we hope to reduce isolation and improve the quality of life for everyone involved."
Attendance is free, but registration is required. Families can sign up online via the CCN website or by calling the Bermuda Community Centre at 876‑555‑1234. The event is part of a broader initiative to enhance special‑needs services across the island, with support from the Department of Education and the Island‑wide Care Association.
