The Bermuda Women's Basketball League (BWBL), which has been on hiatus since last season, is slated to return to the courts in late June. The League’s Board of Directors confirmed the schedule after a meeting held at the Bermuda Sports Centre in Hamilton.

The relaunch will feature six teams drawn from across the island, including the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, St. George’s School, and the newly formed Hamilton Hawks. A revised format will see each team play a double‑header over a 12‑game season, with the top four advancing to a single‑day finals tournament at the National Sports Complex.

"We’re thrilled to bring competitive women’s basketball back to Bermuda," said Chairwoman of the BWBL, Valerie Wilson. "The support from local sponsors and the enthusiasm of our players demonstrate that the sport has a bright future here."

Local businesses have pledged sponsorships, with insurance broker Smith & Co. and the Bermuda Tourism Authority providing financial backing and promotional support. The League also plans community outreach initiatives, including clinics for girls in primary schools and a partnership with the Bermuda Amateur Sports Association to promote healthy lifestyles.

The BWBL will begin registration on 1 May, with tryouts scheduled for early June. Players and fans alike are encouraged to attend the opening game on 28 June at the National Sports Complex, where tickets will be sold through the League’s website and at the Sports Centre.

The relaunch reflects a growing interest in women’s sports on the island and underscores Bermuda’s commitment to supporting diverse athletic opportunities for all residents.
