Bermudian golfer Dylan Muso and his McDaniel College teammates had to settle for a share of seventh place at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic after heavy rain washed out the final round of the tournament in Pennsylvania.
Overnight downpours left the Waynesboro Country Club course unplayable on Sunday, forcing organisers to cancel the closing round and declare Saturday's opening-round scores as the official results. McDaniel College recorded a five-over-par team total in the lone round played, good enough for a tie for seventh in the collegiate field.
Muso, one of Bermuda's promising young golfers plying his trade in the American college ranks, has been gaining valuable competitive experience with the McDaniel programme. Collegiate tournaments in the United States offer island golfers regular high-level competition that is difficult to replicate at home, particularly during the autumn season.
Weather disruptions are an occupational hazard for fall golf in the northeastern United States, and the shortened event meant teams had only one round to post their scores. Muso and his teammates will look to bounce back at their next outing as McDaniel continues its collegiate schedule.
