A temporary lane closure will affect North Shore Road in the Devonshire area from 21 October to 23 October. The Ministry of Public Works and Environment has announced the shutdown to accommodate the replacement of a buried electric cable owned by BELCO.
The closure will take place near the Devonshire Dock, a key point on the road that sees frequent traffic during peak hours. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and allow extra travel time. Officials have stated that the work will be carried out under emergency conditions to minimise disruption.
The Ministry said the cable replacement is part of a wider upgrade of the island’s electrical infrastructure. Work crews will operate during the early morning and evening to reduce impact on commuters. Travelers and businesses are urged to check the BermudaObserver website and the Ministry’s social‑media channels for real‑time updates.
The closure is expected to last for two days, after which normal traffic flow should resume. Residents and visitors are encouraged to use nearby routes such as Brighton Road or the main thoroughfare to avoid bottlenecks.
The government remains committed to maintaining safety and infrastructure reliability across Bermuda, and will continue to provide timely information to the public during the repair period.
