Two Bermudian juniors from the University of the West Indies, PJ Rodrigues and Jordan Vieira, sailed under the banner of Eckerd College in the recent Nevins Trophy regatta held at Kings Point, New York. The 18‑team event, featuring 12 races per division, saw the Tritons finish 13th overall with 253 points.

Rodrigues paired with fellow Sailor Will Alvarado in the A Division, earning 129 points and a 12th‑place finish in that category. Vieira competed in the B Division, contributing to the team's overall score. The crew’s performance reflects the strong sailing program at Eckerd, bolstered by training that includes time in Bermuda’s challenging waters.

The regatta was a highlight for Bermuda’s sailing community, which has long valued international competition and skill development. Many local supporters watched the event live on the college’s live‑stream and celebrated the crew’s perseverance. The experience will aid the juniors’ growth, providing exposure to North American racing standards.

While the 13th place finish is mid‑field, the participation underscores Bermuda’s growing presence in collegiate sailing, encouraging more young Bermudians to pursue the sport on the international stage.
