Bermudian bowlers made a strong showing at the 2026 Munich Open, recording a combined 4,239 pins across the event’s five-day schedule. The team, consisting of four men and two women, qualified for the international tournament after a successful run at the Caribbean Bowlers Cup earlier this year.

The Munich competition, held at the newly renovated Allianz Bowling Center, attracted 48 teams from 12 countries. Bermuda’s contingent finished 12th overall, a notable improvement from their 2024 placement, and earned individual recognition for the top scorer who posted a 12‑frame average of 213.2.

Local sports officials view the results as a boost for the growing bowling scene on the island. “Seeing our athletes compete against some of the world’s best and achieve a record pin total brings pride to Bermuda,” said Sports Minister Dr. Avery Smith. “It also highlights the potential of our youth programs and could attract further investment in bowling facilities.” The Bermuda Bowling Association plans to hold a celebratory reception in Hamilton next week, inviting fans to witness the athletes’ return home and discuss future development plans.

The Munich Open’s success underscores the island’s expanding presence in niche international sports, and the team’s performance is expected to inspire a new generation of Bermudian bowlers.
