The Ministry of Education has opened registration for the 2026‑27 Debate Challenge, a competition designed to sharpen public speaking, critical thinking and teamwork among students aged 10 to 17 from public schools across the island. The initiative is being run in partnership with Dynamic Debaters and the Mirrors Programme, both of which have a strong presence in Bermuda’s educational community.
Students from institutions such as St. George’s School, The Royal School, and St. David’s School are among those encouraged to sign up. The Competition will run through the academic year, culminating in a final event at the Bermuda National Stadium in August 2027. Participants will be grouped into regional teams, with the best teams advancing to the national finals.
"We are excited to see Bermudian youth step up to a platform that promotes civic engagement and confidence," said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education. The challenge aims to give students a chance to practise persuasive argumentation, learn the art of research and develop collaborative skills that are essential for the 21st‑century classroom.
Dynamic Debaters will provide coaching and mentorship, while the Mirrors Programme will focus on self‑reflection and constructive feedback. The partnership reflects the Ministry’s broader strategy to embed critical thinking across the curriculum.
Registration will close on 15 March 2026, so interested students and parents should act quickly to secure a spot.
