Brit Group Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of James Winn as Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of the Bermuda office for Brit Re, its reinsurance arm. Winn will relocate to Hamilton to oversee the firm’s local operations and drive the growth of Brit Re’s Bermuda platform.

Brit Group’s spokesperson said the move reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence on the island. "James brings a wealth of underwriting experience and a strong track record in the reinsurance sector," the spokesperson added. "His leadership will be pivotal as we expand our service offerings and deepen our ties with local insurers and reinsurers.

Winn, who has spent the last decade in senior underwriting roles across Europe and North America, will be responsible for managing the underwriting portfolio, developing new products and ensuring compliance with Bermuda’s regulatory framework. He will also work closely with the island’s regulatory bodies to maintain the high standards that have made Bermuda a global reinsurance hub.

The appointment comes as Brit Group continues to invest in its Bermuda operations, following recent expansions in the island’s reinsurance market. With Winn’s expertise and the island’s favorable tax and regulatory environment, the company aims to solidify its position as a leading reinsurer in the Atlantic region.
