On Thursday evening, a crowd of more than forty young Bermudians gathered at the Hamilton City Hall to kick off a new Career Launch programme aimed at helping local talent navigate the island’s job market. The event, organised by the Bermuda Economic Development Board in partnership with the University of Bermuda’s Career Services Office, featured a panel of industry leaders from finance, tourism, and tech, who shared insights on skill development and networking.

Participants were presented with a range of resources, including résumé workshops, interview preparation sessions, and an introduction to the government’s Emerging Professionals Grant. The mayor of Hamilton rose to deliver a brief address, stressing the importance of retaining skilled residents and encouraging local entrepreneurship.

The launch also highlighted mentorship opportunities, with senior professionals volunteering to guide attendees through career planning. Many of the young participants expressed enthusiasm about the event’s practical focus, noting that real‑world advice is often lacking in their previous experiences. By providing tailored support and fostering connections within the local community, the programme seeks to strengthen Bermuda’s workforce and reduce reliance on overseas talent.

The Career Launch is set to run quarterly, with the next session scheduled for June, and organisers invite additional stakeholders to broaden the initiative’s reach across the island.
