The Business and Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) has opened its doors to a cohort of 13 emerging companies that will now operate from its newly launched incubator in Hamilton. The programme, which began earlier this month, is designed to nurture local entrepreneurs by providing shared office space, access to seed funding, and a network of mentors.
The Hamilton‑based facility sits on the former Admiralty Building, offering 1,200 square feet of co‑working space, high‑speed internet, and conference rooms. Participants will receive one‑to‑one coaching from experienced business leaders and quarterly workshops on marketing, financial planning and export strategy. The incubator also offers a bridge‑loan scheme, allowing qualifying firms to secure up to $25,000 in low‑interest capital to scale operations.
"Our goal is to create a vibrant ecosystem where Bermudian talent can thrive," said BEDC Director of Innovation, Carla Thompson. "These 13 businesses span technology, sustainable tourism, and artisanal food production – sectors that are poised to drive the next wave of economic growth for the island."
With the support of the incubator, the new companies expect to create between 30 and 50 jobs over the next two years and open pathways for further investment in Hamilton’s commercial centre.
