Bermudian powerlifter and president of the Bermuda Powerlifting Association, Brittany Denbrook, has achieved the International Powerlifting Federation’s (IPF) Level II Coaching Certification following a week‑long course in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The accomplishment, announced by the BPA on social media, marks a milestone for the island’s growing powerlifting community.

Denbrook’s training, which combined didactic seminars with hands‑on coaching practice, covered advanced technique, periodisation and athlete nutrition. The certification is recognised worldwide and equips her to coach athletes at elite international events. Her new credentials are expected to strengthen local coaching standards and provide regional athletes with a qualified mentor who understands the unique demands of competing from the Atlantic.

The BPA noted that Denbrook’s success reflects its broader strategy to raise the profile of powerlifting in Bermuda. With a steady increase in club membership and a surge of interest from youth athletes, the association aims to support competitors as they prepare for upcoming Caribbean and Commonwealth competitions.

Denbrook said the experience broadened her perspective on coaching and underscored the importance of continuing education. She expressed optimism that her newly acquired expertise will help nurture home‑grown talent and raise the island’s reputation on the international stage.
