A local community gathering in Hamilton on Monday marked the remembrance of Marco, a revered figure tied to the PHC family, whose passing has left a noticeable void in the island’s social circles. The PHC family, known for their longstanding involvement in Bermuda’s civic life, hosted a modest ceremony at St. George’s Parish Church, where family members and friends shared stories of Marco’s dedication to public service.
During the service, several speakers drew parallels between Marco’s commitment to community welfare and the broader ideals symbolised by the British “Number 10” – a reference to the UK Prime Minister’s official residence. They noted that, much like the historic seat of governance, Marco’s influence echoed across local initiatives, from youth mentorship programmes to environmental stewardship efforts. “His vision was the same as the leadership we admire in Westminster,” one family elder remarked, underscoring the intersection of Bermudian and British values.
The PHC family also announced plans to establish a scholarship in Marco’s name, aimed at supporting students pursuing studies in public administration and community development. The initiative will be funded through a partnership with the Bermuda Foundation for Public Service. As the island mourns, the tribute serves as a reminder of the enduring impact one individual can have on both local and wider communities.
