Six people aboard the aircraft that vanished on a scheduled flight from Bermuda to Boston have been identified by the U.S. Coast Guard, officials confirmed on Thursday. The helicopter, which departed from Hamilton’s L.F. Wade International Airport at 10:20 a.m., never arrived in Boston and was not located in the Atlantic until debris was recovered off the coast of Rhode Island.

The Coast Guard’s investigation, conducted in cooperation with the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, determined that the aircraft was a Eurocopter AS350 and that all six occupants – a crew of two and four passengers – were from Bermuda. The crew had been scheduled to land in Boston’s Logan International Airport, but the aircraft failed to reach its destination.

Local authorities in Bermuda expressed their condolences to the families and are working closely with U.S. officials to support the search and rescue operation. The Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority has issued a statement urging passengers to remain calm while the investigation continues. The Coast Guard has announced that it will continue to monitor the area for additional debris and will keep the public updated as more information becomes available.

The incident underscores the importance of collaboration between Bermuda’s aviation regulators and U.S. maritime and aviation agencies in ensuring the safety and security of international air travel.
