The Bermuda National Trust is welcoming residents and visitors to Verdmont, its historic Smith's Parish property, for a free open house celebration on Saturday, 17 October, running from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event, dubbed 'Art House', forms part of the island-wide Bermuda Art Month programme and aims to blend the island's creative talent with its rich architectural heritage.
Attendees can look forward to live demonstrations by local artists, hands-on activities designed for families, and complimentary guided tours of the centuries-old house, which is regarded as one of Bermuda's finest surviving examples of early Georgian architecture. The Trust says the day is intended to make both art and history accessible to everyone in the community.
Verdmont, perched overlooking the South Shore, has stood largely unchanged since the early 1700s and houses an notable collection of Bermuda-made furniture, portraits and cedar craftsmanship. Organisers hope the combination of working artists and historic surroundings will offer a fresh way for the public to engage with the island's cultural story.
Admission is free and no advance booking is required. Further details are available through the Bermuda National Trust's website and social media channels.
