Residents interested in studying human rights have just days left to seek financial support for an upcoming online course offered through Bermuda College. The Human Rights Education Network, known as HuRen, has issued a reminder that applications for course assistance must be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 16 October 2026.
The programme, titled Human Rights for Changemakers – Level I: Human Rights Fundamentals, is being delivered in partnership with the College's APACE Division. The 12-hour online course is designed to introduce participants to the core principles of human rights, equipping them with foundational knowledge that organisers say can be applied in workplaces, community groups and advocacy efforts across the island.
A spokesperson for HuRen said the financial assistance is intended to ensure that cost does not prevent Bermudians and residents from accessing the training. The organisation has encouraged anyone with an interest in social justice, community leadership or public service to consider applying before the cut-off date.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to expand human rights education in Bermuda, giving participants practical tools to promote fairness and dignity in their own spheres of influence. Organisers believe the course will appeal to educators, students, volunteers and professionals alike.
Those wishing to apply for assistance are advised to contact Bermuda College ahead of the October deadline, as late applications will not be accepted. Further details on course content, scheduling and enrolment are available through the College's APACE Division.
