A former member of the Bermuda Police Service has been identified as a key figure in a nighttime importation incident that has drawn fresh scrutiny to the island’s customs and port operations. Surveillance footage released by the Port Authority of Bermuda shows the former officer moving between three critical sites on the night of the alleged contraband shipment. He was first recorded leaving the Port of Hamilton at approximately 10:15 pm, then arriving at the Customs Office around 10:45 pm, before proceeding to a warehouse on the outskirts of St. George’s by 11:30 pm.

The investigation, which is being conducted by the Bermuda Police Service’s Internal Investigation Unit, is focused on whether the former officer facilitated the transport of an undisclosed quantity of illegal alcohol. The case has sparked concern among local businesses that rely on the port’s reputation for secure and lawful trade, and has prompted a review of security protocols at key entry points.

The former officer has not yet been formally charged and has denied any involvement. Bermuda’s Minister of Finance has said the government remains committed to upholding the integrity of its trade infrastructure and will fully cooperate with the ongoing inquiry. The incident underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in maintaining the island’s standing as a trusted commercial hub.
