A woman was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following a single-vehicle collision on Harrington Sound Road in Smith's Parish, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred near the junction of Palmetto Vale, a stretch of road that winds along the northern side of Harrington Sound and is well travelled by motorists heading between Hamilton Parish and the central parishes. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the female driver was transported to hospital for treatment. Details regarding the extent of her injuries had not been released at the time of publication.
Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including whether speed, road conditions or other factors may have played a role. Harrington Sound Road features a number of bends and narrow sections, and collisions along the route have periodically prompted calls from residents for improved signage and traffic-calming measures.
Motorists travelling through Smith's Parish were advised to expect possible delays in the area while emergency personnel attended the scene. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Bermuda Police Service.
