Bermuda College announced a record rise in student registrations for the upcoming academic year, with enrolments up 12% compared to the previous session. The uptick, which includes a notable increase in adult learners and international applicants, reflects the institution’s growing reputation for flexible programmes and strong ties to local industry.

The College’s Director of Student Services, Dr. Maria Thompson, said the rise is partly due to expanded career‑ready certifications in digital marketing, sustainable tourism, and marine science—fields that align closely with Bermuda’s economic priorities. "Our curriculum now offers evening and online tracks, making it easier for working professionals and remote residents to pursue qualifications," she explained.

Local businesses have also welcomed the influx of new talent. A spokesperson for the Bermuda Tourism Association noted that the College’s hospitality management programme has produced graduates who are already filling seasonal roles in hotels and resorts. "Having more skilled Bermudians available locally helps us maintain service standards and reduces the need for overseas recruitment," the spokesperson added.

The Department of Education has pledged additional funding to support the College’s expansion, citing the potential for a more skilled workforce to drive innovation and economic resilience across the island. As enrollment continues to climb, the College aims to maintain its commitment to inclusivity, offering scholarships to under‑represented groups and partnering with community organisations to broaden access to higher education.
